The Arc of Fond du Lac, Inc.

Residential Care Provider

We are looking for caring, responsible people to fill several part time positions working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. All positions require overnight, weekend availability with flexibility, no exceptions. A valid WI driver’s license with a clean driving record and no lifting restrictions required. Experience working with the developmentally disabled preferred, CNA experience helpful.  $8.50 per hour, 20-30 hours per week.

POSITION:                  Program Assistant - Van Driver
PROGRAM:                 Social Development
RESPONSIBLE TO:      Program Manager
JOB SUMMARY:         This individual will be responsible for planning and participating in scheduled activities, act as a role model for clients to emulate, assist as needed and make every effort to teach and participate with clients throughout the activity.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all policies and procedures set by The Arc of Fond du Lac, Inc.
1. Help the participants to learn appropriate social skills as requested by program director or assistant.
2. Relate all participant needs and program problems to program coordinator and to maintain good public relations with parents, recreational services and advocates of the developmentally disabled.
3. Be prompt for all assignments as directed by program coordinator or assistant, and to be responsible for arranging own transportation to and from activities.
4. Follow all policies and procedures established by the Arc and to conduct one’s behavior in a manner promoting appropriate social behavior to the participants.
5. Attend special in-services training and staff sessions.
6. Report any incidents or accidents immediately to director or one of the other supervisors, and to complete and file reports as directed.
7. Assist clients in the van and when leaving the van. Help van drivers with any duties the van driver directs.
8. Complete and follow daily planning and write progress notes on youth (youth program).
9. Call as soon as possible if an occasion arises and prevents you form being able to make your scheduled work activity.
10. Aid program coordinator or other staff with planning and supervision of recreational activities.
11. Assist in keeping accurate attendance of clients at activity.
12. Develop all programs and activities following the normalization principal indicated on program statement.
13. Represent oneself (appearance and personality) in a professional manner and dress appropriately for activities.
14. Responsible for assisting in transportation of adults to and from activities and to follow van usage rules.
15. Assume responsibility for arranging that all materials and equipment needed for the activity are present when needed.
16. Make purchases as needed and monitor and handle cash allotments, incoming money from parents, etc.
17. Charting as necessary.
18. Follow through with calendar events/responsible for activity in the program director’s absence.
19. Assist in clean up until everything is cleaned up and all have left activity site.
20. Supervise volunteers.
21. Responsible to have time sheets in a designated time.
22. Other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Prefer 18 years minimum age requirement and educational experience in working with developmentally disabled persons, etc. Valid WI driver’s license and record of good driving.
